I’m Julie, an art director, graphic designer, and creative problem-solver based in Nashville.
Since 1992, I’ve worked across branding, advertising, publications, campaigns, digital experiences, and creative leadership. I’ve developed new identities, guided established brands through change, directed creative teams, and helped organizations communicate ideas that were often more complicated than they first appeared.
The work has changed over the years. The instinct behind it hasn’t.
I notice patterns. I see where the pieces connect, where they contradict one another, and where something important has been lost between the idea and its execution. My role is to find the thread running through the work, strengthen it, and make sure every creative decision belongs to the same larger story.
Good design begins before the creative takes shape.
I don’t start with a predetermined style or a favorite solution. I start by asking questions, listening carefully, and understanding what the work needs to accomplish. Sometimes that means building an identity from the ground up. Sometimes it means bringing consistency to a brand that has grown in several directions at once. Sometimes it means stepping into an existing team and providing the experienced creative direction needed to move the work forward.
I’m direct, collaborative, curious, and deeply invested in the details. I’ll challenge an idea when it needs challenging, explain the reasoning behind my recommendations, and keep looking until the solution feels both unexpected and inevitable.
